A Birthday at Big Bear

Just as I thought my next little journey would take me to Palm Springs, another opportunity for travel arose.  Friends who choose to bring friends along on their birthday getaway weekends are the one of the best kinds of pals to have.

Our friend Cody (one of the best kind of pals, as mentioned above) chose a cabin weekend at Big Bear for his 25th birthday weekend. I'd always thought of Big Bear as a winter ski haven, but the little mountain town in the springtime can take your breath away.

Aside from the beauty of the place itself, the cabin was perfect for a group of 20-somethings looking to grill, drink, and put on impromptu-plays on the back porch. And it turns out, when 15 people split the cost of a cabin, it only costs about $45 dollars to take full advantage of the hot tub, fully-equipped kitchen (best for pancake breakfasts) and an air mattress on the game room floor. I mean, how could you not?

I had other plans last weekend. And there are plenty of "more important" things I could have spent my $45 dollars on, but since I've started writing about travel I've found that I seem to be developing a "Yes, Man" syndrome. If you've seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about.

I can't. Say. No. And I'm 100% alright with that.

'Till next time!
