This is a new frontier.
My most recent adventure hasn't taken me to the jungles of French Polynesia or the mountains of Tibet, but what it's lacking in exotic allure it makes up for in sheer excitement: My residence has changed - still in LA, just a few miles down the street - but this time it's shared with my boyfriend.
Over the past week, we've cleared out both our bedrooms, loaded everything we own into a U-haul van, and carried everything we own up a flight of stairs, only to realize that we share to many things to leave space for living in a studio apartment. So we gathered a lot of those things and donated them to Goodwill. We shared some Thai food and wine on the hardwood floors. Then we bought a couch and a kitchen table, and a much needed air conditioner. We bought a patio table from a very nice girl on Craigslist and expanded our living area to the outdoor space, over which we still have to string some lights. The artwork hasn't made it to the walls yet, but the dresser is painted and the record player spins.
We've received well-wishes and so much help from family and friends, and we're so excited to have a place that's ours. We're looking forward to all the shared pots of coffee and nights watching movies on the couch. So, cheers to this adventure and the next, and the next.
