You want a weekend of partying with your friends? You want to lay by the pool with a fruity drink in your hand? You love the idea of mid-century design and modern-day functionality? Do you kind of hate Las Vegas?
You should go to Palm Springs. Here's how to have a good time, guaranteed:
Stay at an Airbnb. There are so many incredible Airbnbs available in Palm Springs, and nearly all of them ooze that iconic mid-century sleek style. There are also plenty of super stylish hotels in the area (like the Ace Hotel), but if you'd like to act a fool in a more private setting where you have the pool to yourself, an Airbnb is the way to go.
DIY your poolside beverages. We had a blast concocting new and fun drinks that we could enjoy by (in) the pool. One of the great things about staying at an Airbnb is that you have a full kitchen at your disposal - so we hit the grocery store to grab everything we needed for homemade sangria, pineapple orange mimosas and and peach bellinis.
Bring ridiculous pool floats. Doughnut, pizza slice, toucan, everything bagel...whatever floats your boat (pun intended). For added fun, have a photo shoot with said ridiculous pool floats.
Go to a gay bar. Palm Springs IS for partying, and it's not quite a complete trip without going out to the bars for a night or two. One thing can easily elevate any average night out, and that's taking a trip to Chill Bar, where you're guaranteed to meet many fabulous gay men and gorgeous drag queens. Don't miss the bar's "Scorpion Room" for dancing that could rival the cardio you get in your weekend spin classes.
Eat out! It was great having an Airbnb with a kitchen and being able to cook some of our own meals, but Palm Springs' restaurant scene is not to be missed. We loved the poolside atmosphere at top-notch service at Reservoir, and swooned over the string-lit trees and indulgent pasta at Birba. And definitely don't miss brunch in Palm Springs, like FARM or Trio.
Ultimately, Palm Springs can be whatever you want it to be. It can be great for a weekend of R&R at a hotel spa, or a weekend of "can't stop, won't stop" partying with good friends. It can be a weekend paradise for pool lounging and sun-soaking, or city walking and architecture appreciation. Regardless of what your Palm Springs weekend consists of, it should be done in style, and preferably, with a drink in one hand.
